HEWILLNOTDIVIDE.US is a live-streamed durational artwork that ran for four years from 20 January 2017 until 20 January 2021. Commencing at 9am EST on 20 January 2017, the day of the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States, the public was invited to deliver the words "HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US" into a camera mounted on a wall outside the Museum of the Moving Image, New York, responding to those words in any way they wished.
The participatory performance would be live-streamed at www.hewillnotdivide.us
continuously for four years, 24 hours a day, for the entire duration of the presidency. In this way, the artwork acted as a show of resistance and insistence, opposition and optimism, guided by the spirit of each individual participant and the community.
On 10 February 2017, the Museum of the Moving Image abandoned the project.
On 18 February 2017, the project relocated to a wall outside the El Rey Theater, Albuquerque.
On 8 March 2017, the project moved to an undisclosed location. A flag emblazoned with the words "HE WILL NOT DIVIDE US" would be flown for the duration.
On 22 March 2017, the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology, Liverpool, adopted the project.
On 16 October 2017, le lieu unique, Nantes, adopted the project.
On 8 June 8 2018, the work was installed in its original format at Muzeum Sztuki, Łódź, for the exhibition 'Peer-to-Peer. Collective Practices in New Art' until 28 October 2018.
On 29 October 2018, the stream returned to le lieu unique, where it remained until the conclusion of the artwork at 12pm EST on 20 January 2021.
